Well as the Spanish La Liga takes its holiday break we can review what we have seen so far this season.
Barcelona is easily the best team in the League. With a record of 14 wins, one draw and one loss(The Loss being a 2-0 shocker at home against Hercules) the easily are on top with 43 points.
The only competition for Barcelona is Real Madrid who have 41 points but were embarrassed by Barcelona 5-0. Madrid has 13 wins with two draws and that lone defeat to Barcelona.
There is a big gap to the third place team Villarreal who with 33 points sits in the last Champions League Group Spot. Villarreal hold a five point lead over a pack of five teams who are separated by only three points. Valenica(28), Espanyol(28), Atletico Madrid(26), Getafe(26) and Atheltico Bilbao(25) are all within a shot of that all important fourth spot.
Real Zaragoza(10), Sporting Gijon(12) and Malaga(13) are all in the dreaded relegation zone, But with Almeria(13), Levante(15) and Osasun(17) so close this could be a battle all season to see who gets dropped.
The other teams in the league are Real Sociedad(22), Mallora(21), Sevilla FC(20), Hercules(19),Deportivo La Coruna(18) and Racing Santander(18).
The two top stars in the World battle it out in the La Liga and right now both are sitting with 17 goals apiece.Barcelona's David Villa has 11 while Nilmar of Villarreal has 10. Fernando Llorente of Atheltico Bilbao also has 10 goals.
To show the all around player that he is Lionel Messi also leads the league in assists with 10. Four players are tied with 6 apiece for second place. Cristiano Ronaldo has five assists to be in a four player tied in sixth place on list.
Barcelona(630,000) and Real Madrid(584,000) are easily outdrawing every other team. Getafe the last place team on this list has drawn only 77,000 fans its games where Barcelona draws over 78,000 to one game.
La Liga will pick back up on Jan 2 with 5 matches with 5 more being played on the 3rd.
