Champions League Group A : A Battle till the End
November 3rd 2010 13:56
Before the Champions League Group stage began it seemed that group A was going to be one of the toughest groups to get thru. Well thru four matches it hasn't disappointed a bit.
Tottenham Hotspur sits atop the group with a 2-1-1 record and seven points and a goal differential of plus 4 while defending champs Internazionale Milano also have seven points with a 2-1-1 record but have only a goal differential of plus 3. Neither one of these teams can rest with Twente sitting at 5 points on a 1-2-1 record but the have a negative one goal differential. Sitting in Last place in Werder Bremen with a record of 0-2-2 and two points and a minus 6 goal differential. Now Werder isn't eliminated officially but it looks like a three team race in this group.
The group started out with each team scoring 2-2 draws on matchday one back on Sep 14. On Sep 29 Tottenham and Interazionale each had big wins. Matchday Three took place on Oct 20 and saw Internzional score a one goal victory over Tottenham while Twente and Bremen tied 1-1.
Yesterday was matchday four and Tottenham got their revenge beating Interazionale by two goals to take the lead in the group. Twente also scored a big win beating Werder 2-0. With two matchdays left look for anything to happen.
Tottenham will play Bremen while the big fight will be Interazionale playing Twente on November 24,2010.
Samuel Eto'o of Interazionale has been a scoring machine scoring seven goals in four matches. Gareth Bale with four and Roman Pavlyuchenko with three have paced Tottenham.
