Breaking Down Match Day One of the German Bundesliga

The 2011/2012 German Bundesliga kicked off on Friday when defending champion Borussia Dortmund defeated Hamburg SV 3-1. Six other matches took place on Saturday with the final two taking place on Sunday.
The Bundesliga moved into third place this year in the UEFA coefficent so the will get four slots in next year's Champions League.
The new season so mixed results for the newcomers. Hertha Berlin lost 0-1 at home to Nurnberg while FC Augsburg playing in the top league for the first time earned a draw 2-2 against SC Freiburg. The Biggest surprise was on Sunday when Bayern Munich lost 0-1 at home to Borussia Monchengladbech.

Mainz 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen
With these results VFB Stuttgart and VFL Wolfsburg lead the table with three points apiece and a plus three goal differental. While Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen and Mainz have a plus two differental.
Four players lead the league in goals after scoring twice in their clubs first game.
