October 2nd 2010 13:16
On Friday Oct 1, 2010 we saw action in only one of the top 5 leagues in Europe.
Bundesliga
St. Pauli 1-0 Hannover 96
Marius Ebbers' first goal of the season earned St Pauli victory over high-flying Hannover in the Bundesliga clash at the AWD-Arena.
The 32-year-old met Bastian Oczipka's teasing cross with a bullet header which flew in off a post in the sixth minute to earn the Hamburg-based side their third away win of the campaign.
Hannover ended the match with 10 men, Karim Haggui dismissed in the 80th minute for bringing down Matthias Lehmann when he was through on goal.
The hosts went into the game knowing a win would send them second, but they soon found themselves behind.
Bastian Oczipka played a sharp one-two with Fabian Boll down the left before whipping a cross into the middle where Ebbers sent a powerful header in via the foot of the right post.
St Pauli now has 10 pts while Hannover has 13 pts
