A Look Ahead at Week Two of English Premier League

August 20th 2010 16:54

After a great first week, let's take a look at what is in store for the second week.

Seven games will be played on Saturday.

Arsenal vs. Blackpool: Blackpool looked great in their first game, but look for them to come back to reality in this one. The game will be close, but Arsenal will pull it out late, winning 2-1.

Birmingham City vs. Blackburn: Blackburn will look to get their second win of the season, but Birmingham City will be hungry for a win. This will be a very close match. Look for a draw out of this one, 1-1.

Everton vs. Wolverhampton: Everton did not look good last week and need this game to get back on the right foot. Wolverhampton passed Stoke City, but i see them falling short this week, 1-0 Everton

Stoke City vs. Tottenham: Tottenham should win easily, but my only concern is that this is their third game in a week. That said, good match earlier, but Tottenham wins 2-1.

WBA vs. Sunderland: After last week, it really can't get any worse for WBA. Sunderland is the better team, but look for WBA to get a draw and get a point, 1-1.

West Ham vs. Bolton: This is one of those games where it could go either way. I am leaning more towards Bolton in this one, but playing at home should make this close for West Ham. Go with the gut, 2-1 Bolton.

Wigan vs. Chelsea: Okay, Chelsea wins. But by how much? How many goals for Drogba? Lets go with 4-1 Chelsea, two goals for Drogba.

On Sunday

Newcastle vs. Aston Villa: Call me crazy, but i like Newcastle in this one. It's the first game at home and the fans will be crazy. Look for a lot of emotion in this game, 3-1 Newcastle.

Fulham vs. Manchester United: First, wasn't it great to see Giggs score in the first game? But back to the pick, United wins a closer game than people think. Rooney has to get it going for the Reds, 2-1 United.

Monday Action

Manchester City vs. Liverpool: GAME OF THE WEEK. My only question is whether Milner will play or not. If Milner plays, look for a 2-1 City win. If not, a 1-1 draw. City needs this win after spending all that money.

Their you have it, a preview of week two. It looks like another exciting week for the League.

Didn't post last week predictions, but went 6-4 predicting the correct score for Aston Villa and Wolverhampton victories, and the Liverpool vs. Arsenal Draw.

Question for readers: Is anybody playing in the Fantasy Premier League?

My Score for week one: 110 pts
Fantasy Team: 51 pts
